-
- "History of Sci Fi and Horror".
-
- Winner of the "1995 Video Breakthrough Award" from Intel, Creative Labs, and Asymetrix
-
- From the turn-of the century voyage to the moon, to the latest nightmare on
- Elm Street, U.S.A., the infusion of fantasy in cinema has delighted us with
- disbeleiving wonder and even screams of terror. For the movies, whatever
- their aspirations to artistic accomplishment of commonplace shock value,
- seem to have been invented as a vehicle for fantasy and the thrill of the
- unknown-- more so than for any other form of storytelling. It bears
- remembering that, scarcely more than a century ago the ides of moving
- pictures was science fiction in its own right-- an invention whose first
- big-screen appearances before the public were greeted with gasps of
- disbelieving wonder and even screams of terror. Written by Michael Price
- (nationally syndicated film columnist) whose credits include "Forgotten
- Horrors" 1979, "The Cinema of Adventure, Romance, and Terror" 1989,
- and "Human Monsters in the Movies" in press, and narrated by ButchPatrick
- (Eddie Munster of the Munsters), History of Sci Fi and Horror is an interactive,
- multimedia CD-ROM filled with interviews, film clips, film poster art,
- and in-depth descriptions of the movies' first century as a tool in imaginative wonder.
-
- Chapter sections include:
- The Frankenstein Influence ( 1905 to --)
- The Vampire (1922 to --)
- De-Evolution ( Jekyll & Hyde ...)
- Mutations
- Invaders from Without
- Invaders From Within
- Diabolism ( Witchcraft Through The Ages, etc ...)
- Strage Explorations ( Lost World, Outer Space, Etc.)
- Zombies, the Walking Dead
